Northland Physical Therapy is proud to be a leader in rehabilitation of the unstable and fall prone patient. Not only is our staff qualified and knowledgeable in the treatment of balance disorders we now have the capacity to assist your physician by providing an objective assessment of your balance under dynamic test conditions designed to reflect the challenges of ones daily life. We at Northland Physical Therapy have committed our dedication to assisting the fall prone patient by being the only physical therapy clinic in Missouri and Kansas to have onsite a state of the art assessment device to measure ones balance problems.

Known as the NeuroCom Equitest Computerized Dynamic Posturography, the CDP provides your Doctor and Physical Therapist information regarding your imbalance on either a stable or unstable support surface as well as in a static or dynamic environment.

How it works

The system utilizes a moveable force plate that the patient stands on — but is stabilized by straps and a harness so the patient does not fall. The force plate, upon command by the therapist via the computer, translates forward and backward and tilts up and down.

What it means to you, your Doctor and your Physical Therapist

This interactive technology and clinically proven protocol allows all parties involved to objectively and accurately identify underlying impairments of balance disorders. It further enhances our ability to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of your instability — especially for those patients who previously proved difficult to diagnosis.

Prevalence of Balance and Mobility Disorders

The following common diagnosis subcategories would benefit from the NeuroCom Eval and subsequent rehabilitation:

  • Dizziness/Disequilibruim
  • Neurologic Disorders
  • Falling in the Elderly
  • Orthopedic Injuries
  • Medical Legal/Workman’s Compensation
  • Vestibular Disorders
